PETA criticizes Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s zoo date

Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory, pro tight end Travis Kelce is officially in offseason mode. Kelce began his free time by taking a private plane to Australia to join his new friend, Taylor Swift. Swift is currently performing her Eras tour in Sydney.

Since Swift had a rare day off, she and Kelce enjoyed some time off visiting Sydney Zoo. The output seems harmless. But animal rights organization PETA heavily criticized the couple for visiting Sydney Zoo.

“While we fully understand the appeal of seeing Australia’s wildlife, PETA hopes that the next time Taylor and Travis want to see wild animals, they will spend their time and money at a true sanctuary,” PETA said in a statement.

Taylor Swift has history with PETA

This is not the first time Swift has had a run-in with the animal rights organization. PETA also had a problem with the artist in 2019. Swift was scheduled to perform at the Melbourne Cup, an event that includes horse racing. PETA sent Swift a stern letter informing her of the cruelty inherent in the sport.

As a result, Swift withdrew from her performance in Melbourne, which delighted the organization.

“Taylor Swift dropped out of the Melbourne Cup and PETA couldn’t be happier,” PETA media outreach manager Moira Colley said in 2019.

“The event is plagued by horse breakdowns and deaths and is linked to the bloody horse slaughter industry. Which PETA most recently exposed in South Korea. “None of this cruelty is consistent with the kind person we know Taylor to be.”

NBA analyst criticizes Taylor haters

Some people aren’t thrilled with the coverage of Swift and Kelce’s relationship. Some football fans believe she is becoming a distraction from the game itself.

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley recently criticized NFL fans who have shown their disdain for Swift.

“If you’re yelling at T-Swift saying she ruined [football], you’re just a loser. “You’re just a loser or an idiot…” Barkley said during a recent episode of his new show King and Charles. “You can be A or B. One of the two.”

Barkley’s co-host Gayle King also agreed, highlighting how Swift has diversified the NFL’s fan base.

“You see teenage girls now watching football for the first time,” he said.
