Early life
According to an online website, Paula Lev’s nationality is Dominican and according to her nationality, she was born in the Dominican Republic. Complaints against Lev
Employees have also filed complaints against Lev for misrepresenting justice and anti-racism, leading to a riot at the school prior to the complaint. The principal first came under fire in February 2021, when teacher and union chapter leader Nick Bacon filed a routine complaint about a scheduling problem.
The school’s teaching and non-teaching staff members are reportedly white, Jewish, Greek, black, Hispanic and Asian. Employees who were insulted by Lev’s question to Bacon complained to District Superintendent Manny Ramirez. Ramirez later admitted in a meeting that Lev was “inappropriate”.
Although Lev later apologized to Bacon for making the comment in front of other staff members, she insisted that he read Robin DiAngelo’s book “White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for Whites to Talk About Racism.” She also claimed that her comments reflected her true feelings.
After District Superintendent Ramirez was unable to satisfactorily resolve the issue, employees approached Chancellor Meisha Porter in July. Previously, more than 40 faculty members voted against Lev.
“With nearly all of the 40+ members voting, including tenured and non-tenured teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service professionals, 83.3% voted that they no longer trust our principal to run our school,” according to an email announcing the vote.

Lev received the 2018 Outstanding School Administrator Award as well as a National School Leadership Initiative for Excellence (NESLI) scholarship.
