Early life and career
Paul van Dyk grew up in a single-parent household in East Berlin after his father left him and his mother when he was four years old. Van Dyk and Kid Paul performed to a large audience on German radio in February 1993 while hosting an episode of the three-hour weekly radio show “HR3 Clubnight”.
Van Dyk and Cosmic ended musically after the release of Visions of Shiva’s second and final song, “How Much Can You Take?” Paul remixed Humate’s dance anthem “Love Stimulation” in late summer and released his first DJ-mix compilation, “X-Mix-1 – the MFS Trip”.
1994-2007
Van Dyk released the Pump This Party, Emergency 911 and The Green Valley EP in 1994. Meanwhile, MFS prepared many remixes for Paul. Van Dyk got the chance to mix the song “Spooky” from the Republic album due to MFS label owner Mark Reeder’s good friendship with musicians like New Order. Additionally, Van Dyk left MFS Records in mid-1998, gaining a controlling interest in the fledgling Vandit Records.
