Patrick Stewart recalls a heated encounter he had with his cast as a member of Star Trek.
The 83-year-old film legend has been working in Hollywood for decades and one of his most beloved and enduring roles has been that of Jean-Luc Picard in the fantasy world.
Despite having a long-standing connection with the Star Trek universe, Patrick recently admitted that there were some difficult moments at the beginning when he joined Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987.
In fact, he even recalled storming off the set once. He opened up about what happened and explained why he was wrong about his behavior while he mocked his next Doing it like this: a memoir.

In an excerpt from his memoir obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick recalls being “a stern bastard” thanks to his training at the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre. Things were different with Star Trek.
“About him CNG On set, I became angry with the behavior of my colleagues, and that’s when I called that meeting where I lectured the cast for doing stupid things and responded to Denise Crosby’s comment: “Sometimes we have to have a little fun, Patrick,” by saying ‘We’re not here, Denise, to have fun,’” he revealed, adding that it is now a “hilarious” memory.
However, “the moment the cast burst into hysterics at my pompous statement, I didn’t handle it well. I didn’t like being laughed at. “I stormed off the set and into my trailer, slamming the door.”
Jonathan Frakes (William Riker) and Brent Spiner (Data) helped him come to his senses, and Brent told him that he “misjudged the situation.”
“He and Jonathan recognized that yes, there was too much nonsense and it needed to be reversed. But they also made it clear how unpleasant it was (and this is not a case study in good leadership) that I tried to resolve the issue by lecturing and berating the cast,” Patrick wrote. “I had failed to read the room, imposing CSR behavior on people accustomed to the ways of episodic television, which was, after all, what we were filming.”
