Days before Patrick Mahomes takes the field in Super Bowl LVIII, the famous quarterback’s father, Pat Sr., was arrested for DWI.
According to TMZ, Mahomes’ father was arrested while intoxicated for the third time or possibly even more. His run-in with the law took place on Saturday, February 3 in Texas. Bail for the 53-year-old man is expected to be set today, February 4.
The news outlet further reported that Patrick Mahomes’ father was previously arrested in 2019 for DWI. During that incident, he was sentenced to 40 days in jail. He served time on weekends to serve his sentence.
The father-son duo has been close over the years. After Super Bowl LVII, Pat Mahomes was seen in the field praising his son for his great victory. “I’ve never seen anything like you,” he told the quarterback. “You’re different! You’re different. I love you. I love you to death, baby. You know I do. Damn, you’re good.”
During the 2022 NFL season, Patrick Mahomes reportedly played most of the playoffs with an ankle injury before heading to Super Bowl LVII. He was named MVP of the game. This will be the third Super Bowl game he will play in.
Although not a professional football player, Patrick Mahomes Sr. previously played as an MLB pitcher from 1992 to 2003. Among the teams he played for were the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and Chicago Cubs.

Before his arrest, Patrick Mahomes’ father talked about not necessarily wanting to sit next to Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, at NFL games.
During his recent appearance on the WFAN Sports Radio show Evan and Tiki On the show before the AFC Championship, Mahomes joked that he hoped he didn’t sit with Swift in the game.
“No, I don’t think so,” he said of the possibility of sitting next to Swift. “Travis usually has his thing and Patrick has his own deal. “I figure if Tayor wants his own suite, he’ll have enough money to get the one he wants.”
Although Swift typically sits with the Kelce clan at games, Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany regularly watches with the pop icon.
Although when talking about seats on game day, Patrick Mahomes’ father talked about meeting Swift. He described her as “very kind and genuine.”
She then stated that she is actually down to earth. “With someone so famous, she never knows how she’ll do,” she added.
