Otávio is a popular Portuguese professional footballer. Otávio plays as an attacking midfielder for Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr and the Portugal national team.
Early life
Octavio was born on February 9, 1995, in Maceió, Brazil. His full name is Otávio Edmílson da Silva Monteiro and has Portuguese nationality. Otávio finished his training at Internacional, where he enrolled at the age of 15. Just two years later, he made his Serie A debut, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 0–0 home draw against Santos on 15 July.
His first league goal came on June 8, 2013, when he started and contributed to a 2-2 away draw against Cruzeiro. He added five more during the season, finishing in 13th place, credited by manager Dunga for helping him overcome his weight problems. He scored seven goals in 62 competitive appearances at the Estádio Beira-Rio.

Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr announced on August 22, 2023 that the club has signed Otávio on a three-year contract, after activating the player’s release clause of €60 million, making him the player most expensive in the history of the Saudi club and Porto. Highest sale ever.
International career
Alexandre Gallo called up Otávio to the Brazilian U-20 team shortly after making his debut for the national team. In March 2021 he acquired Portuguese citizenship.
On August 26 of that year, Fernando Santos called him up to the Portugal team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Azerbaijan, as well as a friendly against Qatar. He made his debut against the latter, scoring in a 3-1 victory at Debrecen’s Nagyerdei Stadion.

On 24 March 2022, he scored his second goal, sparking a 3–1 home win against Turkey in the World Cup qualifying play-off semi-finals, and subsequently assisted Diogo Jota.
In October, he was named in Portugal’s 55-man preliminary squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and was later named in the tournament’s final 26-man squad.
