An awesome new cosplay of One Piece‘s Zoro, showcases the swordsman pirate’s iconic three-sword fighting style in a manner that would be wise for Netflix to imitate in its upcoming television adaption of the manga.
Ever since he was a child, Roronoa Zoro has dreamed of one day becoming the world’s greatest swordsman. After the death of his childhood friend and practice partner Kuina in One Piece Chapter 5, Zoro was given her sword, which he added to his own set of two, and began developing a fighting style using all three that eventually evolved into his telltale three-sword technique. While Zoro is adept in a range of sword fighting techniques, the three-word style is his “go-to” technique. What is most unique about the technique is that it requires Zoro to hold one sword in his mouth, with he uses in conjunction with the two swords he holds in either hand. Despite this strange holding method, the style has proven extremely effective, This is especially the case after the upgraded the style in One Piece Chapter 1035 to the King of Hell Three Sword Style.
On a video post to the Reddit One Piece group page by @Alice-86F, cosplayer and professional perform Taryn_Cosplay debuted his interpretation of Zoro and his three swords at Paris’ Japan Expo. If the vibrant lime green hair, chest scar, and ever-present frown are not enough to convince of who the Taryn is playing, then the three sword scabbard belt, certainly will. Moreover, without saying anything, which is appropriate for Zoro’s “man of little words” mentality, Taryn perfectly exudes Zoro’s “you eyeballing me” attitude in his movements and especially in how he shrugs off his gi in preparation for a fight.
Taryn’s attention is event throughout the cosplay, but nowhere as much as in his musculature. Despite the Staw Hat Pirates being loaded with an overpowered crewmember, most do little in the way of improving their skills through constant practice. However, Zoro is a dedicated practitioner of the art of sword fighting. Indeed, outside of drinking, fighting, and sleeping, all he does is exercise and practice. As such, if anyone on the crew will a hard body, it will be Zoro. Taryn accurately shows this off by making his Zoro have a bodybuilder’s body.
With Netflix currently working on a One Piece television series, and surprisingly little has been leaked outside of an official teaser of how the characters will look in live action. After seeing Taryn’s cosplay example of Zoro, fans can only hope the Netflix series will match its style, detail, and accuracy, at least in regard to the Straw Hat Pirates’ master swordsman.
