Following the recent publication of his comments on Barbie and Ryan Gosling, Oliver Stone made a statement about the situation.
According to Deadline, the situation began when the famous filmmaker suggested during an interview in June 2023 that Ryan Gosling should not have been involved in the Barbie film and should have focused on “more serious films.”

“Very disappointed to see Deadline, a publication I respect, publish this sensational and out of context statement I made about Barbie weeks before the movie came out,” wrote Oliver Stone. “At the time I was busy promoting my nuclear documentary in Europe and had little to no knowledge of the project beyond its title.”
Stone also wrote that he could see Barbie in theaters in July and I appreciated the film and its themes. “I found the filmmakers’ approach certainly different than what I expected,” she explained. “I apologize for speaking ignorantly.”
Oliver Stone later praised Barbie director Greta Gerwig for other films she has made over the years. “Greta Gerwig’s 2017 film bird lady “It was one of my favorites that year,” he declared. “Barbie The box office boosted the morale of our business enormously, which was welcome.
