Oliver Hawkins Pays Tribute To His Father With The Foo Fighters 

The first round of a tribute performance to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins took place at Wembley Arena on Saturday, September 3. Star drummers like Taylor Hawkins’ 16-year-old son Oliver Shane Hawkins performed at the memorial event. According to social media footage, Oliver Hawkins played the drums for Foo Fighters’ iconic 1997 single My Hero. Foo Fighters head Dave Grohl welcomed Shane onto the stage. He declared:

Later in the concert, Grohl broke down in tears midway through the band’s classic Times Like These, but fans continued to cheer him on. The Taylor Hawkins event also featured Liam Gallagher, Dave Chappelle, Stevie Nicks, Elton John and Jason Sudeikis, all of whom were witnesses to Hawkins’ performance. The next tribute performance for Hawkins will be on September 27 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

What happened to Taylor Hawkins?

Taylor Hawkins passed away in March of this year at the age of 50. The drummer has toured South America with the Foo Fighters. On March 25, the band is scheduled to perform at the Estereo picnic festival in Bogotá, Colombia. Initial toxicology test results showed that the male singer had 10 psychoactive drugs in his body before he died. The Colombian attorney general’s office did not rule that Hawkins’ death was caused by a drug overdose. Before his death, the musician complained of chest problems.

Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas and spent his childhood in California. He rose to fame as a drummer during Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill tour in the late 1990s. Hawkins married longtime girlfriend Alison in 2005. Hawkins has a son, Oliver Shane, and two daughters, Annabelle and Everleigh.
