Just weeks after OJ Simpson died from prostate cancer, the former NFL star’s youngest daughter, Sydney, was seen in public for the first time since the news broke.
According to the daily mail, Sydney was seen carrying a car seat while walking to her apartment in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dressed in a casual gray sweater and jeans, the 38-year-old real estate agent was with a man while she ran some errands.

Not only is this the first time she’s been seen since her infamous father’s death, but the outlet noted that she hasn’t been publicly photographed in nearly six years.
OJ Simpson shared Sydney and her younger brother Justin with his late second wife, Nicole Brown. He was only eight years old when his mother was murdered on June 12, 1994. OJ was quickly considered a suspect in the murder due to his violent past with Brown. He was charged with her murder, as well as the murder of her friend, Ron Goldman.
He was acquitted of the murders in 1995.
Although their father’s life was constantly in the spotlight, Sydney and Justin managed to stay out of the public eye. They have also not commented on her father, except to announce his death along with her older half-siblings, Jason and Amelle.
OJ Simpson’s children posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter) announcing his death on April 10. “He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren,” the statement said. The family asked for privacy and grace during the transition period.
Simpson’s executor has since confirmed that the late athlete only had one close family member by his side when he died.
OJ Simpson’s children lived with Nicole Brown’s parents during his infamous 1994 murder trial
After being found not guilty of the murder of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, OJ Simpson had to fight for custody of Sydney and Justin. The children had been living with their maternal grandparents, Louis and Judith Brown, since their father’s arrest in 1994.
After the court ruled in favor of OJ Simpson and returned the children to him, the Browns released a statement regarding the decision. They admitted to being concerned about Syndey and Justin’s well-being while they were with their father.
“We love Sydney and Justin and pray for their safety and well-being as they return to their father,” the Browns stated, according to CNN.
The Browns’ attorney, Natasha Roit, criticized Judge Wieben-Stock’s decision. She said evidence demonstrating Simpson’s domestic violence tendencies was clearly ignored.
“For us it is illogical that [the judge] “I can decide on a domestic distribution… without considering the evidence of the murder,” Roit said.
During the custody case, OJ Simpson’s attorneys argued that as the biological father, he should be allowed to care for his children.
