The plot of the Palestinians Season 3 is clearly building on the Revival of the Empire that has been revealed in the past two seasons, with more and more intrigue surrounding the Empire’s cloning program. Dr. Pershing believes his work is noble and tries to move on – but unfortunately he believes the wrong person.
Palestinians Season 3 subtly teases Elia Kane’s betrayal, with musical cues reminiscent of Palpatine and the Sith. Her betrayal can be understood with broader knowledge, especially Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which is the founding history of the Empire’s cloning experiments. Putting the pieces together, it explains why Elia Kane betrayed Dr. Pershing and her plan.
Elia Kane ensures Dr. Pershing’s mind is skinned
Officer Elia Kane introduces herself as a former Imperial soldier on the New Republic amnesty program, and like Dr. Pershing, she served on Moff Gideon’s ship. in the whole process Palestinians In season 3, episode 3, she entices Dr. Pershing to trust her, then traps him into submission to the Empire program. This ensures that he will eventually be subject to a maladaptive process that she can manipulate, stripping him of his mind. Does Elia Kane work for the Empire or for Palpatine personally?
Palestinians Season 3 episode 3 doesn’t really reveal whether Elia Kane is working for the Royal Ruins – or whether she’s an agent of Palpatine herself. The musical cues accompanying her scenes are reminiscent of Sith, possibly suggesting the latter. Palpatine would benefit most from Dr. Pershing’s cloning research, so it would make sense for him to get an agent to erase Dr. Pershing’s mind or reassure his allegiance. Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker It’s suggested that some former members of the Empire, such as Allegiant General Pryde, are secretly working for Palpatine, so Kane could be another agent for him.
It is also possible that Elia Kane is still working for Moff Gideon, who is rumored to have fled the New Republic. In that case, Moff Gideon is covering up his own experiments (which may or may not coincide with those of the Emperor). In that case, Governor Gideon’s agents would no doubt start hunting down Dinjarin and Grogu again, given Grogu’s apparent importance to his plans.
