Nitin Agarwal was born on Wednesday, 27 July 1966 (age 57 years; as in 2023) in Delhi. His zodiac sign is Leo. He attended the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, to pursue B.Tech in Civil Engineering from 1983 to 1987. After this he did M.Tech (1987-1989) from IIT, Delhi. He has also obtained M.Phil. in Social Sciences from Panjab University, Chandigarh. After passing the UPSC exam in 1989, Nitin Aggarwal received his training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Telangana.

As an IPS officer, Nitin Agarwal has held several prestigious roles including serving as Deputy Inspector General in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Inspector General in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Inspector General in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police . (ITBP). In 2014, during his tenure in ITBP, he attained the rank of ADG. He also served as the Inspector General (IG) Training in the ITBP, where he was in charge of overseeing the training of officers and other personnel in the force, including basic, advanced and in-service courses. Salary
As per Level 16 of the pay matrix under the 7th Pay Commission, Nitin Agarwal will be entitled to a pay between the pay range of Rs 2,05,400 and Rs 2,24,400.
