On Thursday (September 14), Netflix released the trailer for the second season of Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandalmonths after Alex Murdaugh received two life sentences without parole after being convicted of murdering his wife Maggie and son Paul in 2021.

Here is the synopsis for the second season: “On March 2, 2023, Alex Murdaugh was found guilty of the murder of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul. The world watched with bated breath as the verdict was announced. “People in the Lowcountry had been waiting nearly two years to understand what happened on the night of June 7, 2021.”
“Season 2 will feature first-hand accounts from those who were there in the days before and after the murders, providing more information than ever about that deadly night, including Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson (former Murdaugh family housekeeper) and Mushelle “Shelly.” Smith (Libby Murdaugh’s caretaker), who became one of the trial’s most powerful witnesses, Curtis Edward Smith (aka Cousin Eddie), and Gwen Generette, one of the trial’s jurors. Morgan Doughty, Paul’s ex-girlfriend, Anthony Cook, Paul’s friend, and Wall Street Journal reporter Valerie Bauerlein also return.
Alex Murdaugh still faces at least 99 financial-related crimes in 19 different indictments related to theft and embezzlement of funds from his legal clients over several years.
The three episodes of the second season of Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal will debut on Netflix on Wednesday, September 20.
