Soon after completing his schooling in India, he received international certification from the American-British Academy. In June 2004, Nalin Moniz joined Lehman Brothers, an American global financial services firm, in New York, US as a summer analyst and worked there until August 2004. After that, he completed a minor course in mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania. in 2005. Meanwhile, he also completed the Jerome Fischer Program in Management and Technology at the same university. Nalin Moniz then joined Goldman Sachs Group, an American multinational investment bank and financial services company in New York, USA, as a Portfolio Manager in July 2005 and worked there till May 2009.

In 2009, Nalin Moniz earned the Chartered Financial Analyst Certificate from the CFA Institute in the United States. When he was 25, he quit his job at Goldman Sachs with the support of just one investor. They took this decision after the future of the asset management industry became uncertain due to the financial crisis in the United States in 2008. He returned to India to fulfill his dream. In July 2009, Nalin Moniz and his wife, Radhika Gupta, started a company called Forefront Capital. He combined his previous experience with the under-explored region of India and began working as its director. After three years, Forefront Capital became the first officially licensed hedge fund in India. Nalin Moniz played a key role in creating a new part of the financial industry. He worked at Forefront Capital until May 2014.

In May 2014, Nalin Moniz started working at Edelweiss Asset Management Limited as Chief Investment Officer (Alternative Equity). He served as the leader of the Emerging Leaders (EL) program for Edelweiss for four years from August 2014 to June 2018. Since June 2017, he has been working as a mentor for Catholic youth at ‘Take Charge’ in Mumbai. In January 2019, Nalin Moniz began working as a coach at SaBeR Fitness Center in Mumbai, India, where he trains beginning triathlon candidates.
