On the night of 30 September 2023, at around 9:45 pm, he was driving his car Kia Seltos number KA 09 MG 5335, and hit Krishna B, aged 58 years, and his wife Prema S, aged 48 years. , at Konankunte Cross under the jurisdiction of Kumaraswamy Layout Traffic Police Station.

Nagbhushan told that he had gone to RR Nagar to meet his friends and was returning to his home in JP Nagar. He said the couple came onto the road from the footpath and hit him. He tried to take them to the hospital in his car; However, his car did not start, so he took him to the hospital in an autorickshaw. Prema died on the way to the hospital and Krishna suffered serious injuries on his head, chest and leg.

The couple’s son Parth, who works in a private company, had filed an FIR against Kumaraswamy under sections 279, 337 and 304A of the IPC. On 1 October 2023, Nagabhushan was granted bail from the station as DCP (Traffic, South) Shiv Prakash Devaraj said that it was not a case of hit-and-run and instead an accident. He also said that there was no trace of alcohol in his blood.
