Mohaddesa Jaffrey was born in 1996 (age 26 years; as of 2022) in Jogeshwari, Mumbai. In 2020, he joined a flying school in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Mohaddesa’s father’s name is Sher Mohammad Jafri, who is a preacher in a local mosque. His mother’s name is Alima Farah Jafri, who also works as a preacher in a local mosque. Talking about him in an interview, his father said,
She is the first Shia girl from Maharashtra to become a commercial pilot. My wife and I are preachers. It was thanks to the blessings of Allah and Hazrat Imam Hussain (grandson of Prophet Muhammad, who was martyred in the Battle of Karbala in Iraq in 680) that she could fulfill her dream.
In an interview, her mother said that she had to hear comments like, ‘How can a maulana and alema (female religious scholar) put their only daughter on a pilot’s course?’ From his relatives after being admitted to the flying school. His mother talked about this in an interview and said,
We remained silent because we knew we were not doing anything wrong. If our daughter has seen a dream and there is nothing irreligious or immoral in it, then we have to support her.”

In an interview she had said that she was a big fan of Kalpana Chawla. Recalling the time when she was seven years old, she said that she came to know about Kalpana Chawla in 2013 when she died. In the interview, she further told that she had gone to the market with her father, where she saw posters of Kalpana Chawla and asked her father about her. Her father told her the story of Kalpana Chawla’s bravery after which she became her fan. In the interview he further said,
I quietly became a fan of Kalpana Chawla and as I grew up, I read many biographies and hundreds of articles on her and watched many videos. I told my parents that I wanted to join the aviation industry.
