In 2011, Moeen’s wedding, which was scheduled to take place in the same year, faced delays twice and the news surfaced on the internet. The first delay occurred in mid-May as a result of the US operation in Pakistan that attracted worldwide attention to find Osama bin Laden. Following the process, growing international criticism resulted in another delay, causing Dawood Ibrahim to temporarily reschedule the wedding. At the end of the year, Moeen Ibrahim married Sania Sheikh on 23 September 2011 in front of about 2,000 guests at Dawood’s home, the White House, in Karachi. Sania Sheikh, a wealthy Karachi-based businesswoman, provides support to her family’s companies in both Pakistan and the United Kingdom. Gangster Chhota Shakeel was reportedly present at Moin Ibrahim’s wedding. The couple have three children.

Thane extortion squad chief Police Inspector Pradeep Sharma revealed in a media conference that Iqbal Kaskar confessed that Dawood Ibrahim was suffering from depression. This reportedly happened because Dawood’s only son Moeen Ibrahim had no one to run his empire after he broke away from his family. Pradeep Sharma revealed that Dawood was worried about his health, and in a telephone conversation with Iqbal Kaskar, said that he was worried about who would take over his responsibilities. Iqbal Kaskar claimed that Moin Ibrahim was devoted to his religion and had no interest in his father’s business. Moeen became a maulana, or religious instructor, in a Pakistani mosque.

At the same time, several media sources claimed that Moin Ibrahim, his wife Sania Shaikh and their three children were living together in a house provided by the mosque where Moin served as a maulana. He reportedly began giving religious teachings and taught others what he knew. At a media conference in 2017, Thane Anti Extortion Cell chief Pradeep Sharma revealed that Moin, who holds a management degree, had previously helped his father for a few years. However, later, he decided to step back and focus on passing on the teachings of Allah. Pradeep Sharma said,
It is understood that Moeen was against his father’s illegal activities, which have brought the entire family into disrepute across the world and made many of them wanted fugitives everywhere. His son has been practically estranged from the family and all its businesses for the past few years, but it is unclear whether he is on speaking terms with his father.

Iqbal Kaskar revealed in full investigation that his nephew Moin Ibrahim became a respected and certified religious instructor, or “Maulana”. Iqbal also said that Moin had memorized the entire “Holy Quran” and had attained the status of “Hafiz-e-Quran”. Furthermore, he decided to leave the luxury of the family’s wealthy home, located in the affluent Sadar City of Karachi, Pakistan and moved into a neighborhood mosque. Iqbal Kaskar further said that educating young children and teaching the lessons of Islam and the Holy Quran was one of the main religious responsibilities of Moin Ibrahim at the mosque. Iqbal said Moeen was in charge of leading prayers, leading “namaz” at various ceremonies and performing other traditional socio-religious duties. Pradeep Sharma shared with the media platform that Moeen decided to leave his luxurious life and became a man of God. Pradeep said,
It is clear that Moeen, who could have inherited his father’s vast legal and illegal business empires, has ironically decided to become a man of God and completely give up the life of luxury that was his Was on orders.
