Facts/General Knowledge
- When Hee-jin joined SM Entertainment, she was not interested in idol group music, instead she wanted to work on album covers.
- After working as a creative director at SM Entertainment Company, Hee-jin had to undergo a lot of mental and work pressure. She had no time left for herself and felt tired. In an interview, while talking about his working life at SM and how he decided to leave the company, he said,
When I became the creative director I was already very (mentally) tired. I worked a lot. I used to film four to five music videos a month and release four to five albums. I used to joke with my team at the time that if I had been on a survival show, I probably could have come in first place. I’ve never really been on a proper holiday. I sent my team members on holidays but it was very difficult for me to go. I was burnt out and was thinking I should quit the job. But I felt that the company would not let me go just like that. So when I first told the head producer, we cried together. At that time I also thought, ‘Why is living so painful?’ I suffered severe self-harm and was very hard on myself. Of course, there were moments of happiness but during those moments I would think, ‘Is this happiness?’ So I continued down the path of leaving the company.
- In 2019, after leaving SM Entertainment he received a call from Hybe Corporation and was appointed to the position of Chief Branding Officer (CBO). In an interview he said,
I still feel like there’s a lot I wanted to do and accomplish, but this was such a big and new challenge that I accepted it. Then after a few days I got a call from another place and it was HYBE.
