When he was four his family moved to Hackney, London, where he spent his childhood. In the bustling multicultural district of Hackney, they watched a number of seemingly harmless incidents escalate to alarming levels. In an interview he said,

When I was growing up I was so afraid to go to those parts of London!… especially when you knew that South London was not the place. I didn’t want to go there. It’s the same with Hackney. Not for me.”

He moved to Romford during his teenage years, where he did his schooling at Chadwell Heath Academy. In school, he became attracted to the world of acting when he played the role of Macduff, the main antagonist in William Shakespeare’s tragedy ‘Macbeth’. In an interview he said,

The thing that inspired me to become an actor was Macbeth…we did a modern version of it at school and I was playing Macduff. It really sparked something in me: I loved it!”

After this, he did a course in performing arts at Epping Forest College in Loughton, England. She began her career as a model at the age of seventeen after which she signed with an agent.

At the age of 16, he worked as a delivery boy at his aunt’s Caribbean restaurant in Chadwell Heath. Before breaking into the entertainment industry, Ward worked in a betting shop, where anyone could legally place bets with a licensed bookmaker. In college, one of his teachers took a shine to him.
