MC Steyn was born as Altaf Sheikh (also known as Altaf Tadavi) on Monday, 30 August 1999 (age 23 years; as in 2022) in Pune, Maharashtra. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He grew up in the Tadiwala Road neighborhood of Pune. He completed his 12th standard from a school in Pune. According to MC Steyn, due to his popularity, he could not pursue further studies after completing his schooling. He started performing Qawwali when he was 12 years old. His brother introduced him to rapping when he was in sixth grade. While growing up, MC Stan listened to many American music artists, including 50 Cent, Eminem, Young Thug, Lil Wayne and others. He learned b-boying and beatboxing before venturing into rapping.

After their separation, MC Stan shared his residential address on social media after which some of his fans came outside his house and some of them even threatened to rape him. To take revenge, she posted MC Steyn’s residential address on her social media. Reportedly, when she posted her address, MC Steyn sent his manager Vardhaman Mehta along with two others to attack her. Talking about this incident in an interview, he said,
I also posted the home address of MC Steyn and his manager Vardhaman Mehta along with a video on my Instagram account. To take revenge, she called up the Santacruz police station and filed a non-cognizable complaint against me for posting my address. On being called on 21 February, I went to the police station with two of my friends. Mehta was there with his friends. When we were returning home, Mehta and his friends Akash and Sunny followed us on bikes. They stopped the auto, abused us, kicked and thrashed us and also took away my iPhone and broke it.

He had injuries on his nose and face. Somehow, she managed to reach the police station to file a complaint against MC Steyn, but he refused to do so. The Santacruz police registered an FIR against Vardhaman Mehta, Akash and Sunny on 3 March 2022; however, no one was arrested. In an interview regarding the 2022 TV show Bigg Boss, when asked if he would explore romance in the show, he replied that he has a girlfriend outside the Bigg Boss house.

- MC Stan used the word ‘Stan’ in his stage name because he is a fan of the famous American rapper Eminem and fans of Eminem are called ‘Stans’. Since he considers himself a microphone controller rather than a rapper, he used the term MC in his name. His favorite rappers are 2Pac and Eminem.
- He learned English specifically to understand the lyrics of English rap songs.
- He wrote his first rap song when he was in 8th grade in school.
- In an interview, he revealed that he smokes ganja.
- He raps in Hindi and wants to make this language recognized globally. In an interview he talked about his record label Hindi Records and said,
Hindi is my style and I want to take Hindi to the worldwide platform as it is my mother tongue. I want to spread this language till it is included in the school curriculum of western countries, which led me to start my own record label called Hindi Records.
- MC Stan is part of the street gang and considers himself an “underground artist”. They were arrested, and sometimes jailed, for the criminal charges against them.
