Maxi Jazz Passed Away At The Age Of 65

Maxi Jazz, frontman of the electronic band Faithless, has just died at the age of 65. On December 24, 2022, his death was announced via the band’s official Twitter account, stating that he passed away in sleep:

“Maxi Jazz died quietly in her sleep last night and we are deeply saddened. He is a guy who has impacted our lives in so many ways. He gave our music real meaning and purpose. He’s a great person, always makes time for everyone, and has insights that are both insightful and accessible.”

In a subsequent Facebook post, the band noted that Jazz brought “appropriate meaning and purpose to our music.” The message went on to call him “a great musician, a great guy and a genius” and added:

Maxi Jazz’s musical career began in the early 1980s as a DJ.

Maxi Jazz was born on 14 June 1957 in Brixton, South London. He started his music career as a DJ at Soul Food Cafe System in 1984. Tam Tam Records signed his band in 1989. Jazz later formed Faithless with Rollo and Sister Bliss in 1995, and the quartet released their first album Reverence the following year.
