Matty Healy Looks Back on Controversial Moments, Admits He’d ‘Take Back’ Some Things

Matty Healy looked back on some of his more controversial moments during a recent performance.

The 1975 frontman took the stage in London, England over the weekend and used some of the performance to own up to making mistakes in his past.

While he wasn’t specific, his comments come following negative press for insensitive jokes he made about Ice Space amongst other things.

Though he didn’t directly apologize for anything in particular, he did seemingly take accountability for past decisions.

During a conversation about the band’s song “Love Me,” Matty explained that he was “taking the p-ss out of myself,” according to Metro.

“I was always, like, trying stuff. And some stuff I got right and some stuff I got wrong. But, do you know what? There’s a lot of things I’ve said, jokes that I’ve made, you know what, there’s probably a couple of f-cking songs I’d take back if I had the chance,” he continued.

“What I mean is that I really am only doing this because I want to make you guys laugh and feel good. That’s what my favorite art does and that’s what I’m trying to do. I get a bit excited. And, you know what, I’m f-cking proud of myself.”

Matty‘s comments come after another artist bashed him while performing at Glastonbury Music Festival.
