Matty Healy shares his thoughts on the Grammys and praises Kanye West.
During The 1975’s concert in New York on Wednesday (Nov. 15), the 34-year-old singer told the crowd that his band should have been nominated for a Grammy.
He also explained that he admires Kanye because the rapper believes in himself.

“The fact that we didn’t get nominated for a Grammy was a huge outrage,” Matty said bluntly, according to a TikTok video from the show. “The reason people don’t say that is because it’s not a very tasteful thing to say, but I’m not very tasteful anymore,” he joked. “Are you fucking crazy?”
He noted that his albums I like it when you sleep, because you are so beautiful but so unaware of it. and A brief investigation into online relationships I should have gotten nods.
Matty continued: “I’m not celebrating myself, but Kanye is one of my heroes. Did you know? “You have to believe in yourself.” He admitted that the rapper is “an awkward hero right now,” but urged fans to simply “separate the anti-Semitism” and “think about self-confidence.”
The 1975 leader frequently gets into trouble with controversial statements. He recently apologized for his racist jokes about Ice Spice.
