Matt LeBlanc breaks his silence on Matthew Perry 2 weeks after his death

Friends Co-star Matt LeBlanc has finally broken his silence on the death of his former co-star Matthew Perry.

In a statement that took two weeks, the 56-year-old actor posted on Instagram to address the loss of Perry, who died of apparent drowning on October 28 at age 54.

In the post, which included classic shots of him and Perry on set, LeBlanc said these words:

“I say goodbye with great regret. The moments we spent together are honestly among the favorite moments of my life,” LeBlanc said in a note addressed to “Matthew” along with personal and show images.

“It was an honor to share the stage with you and call you my friend.”

The actor also said he will “always smile” when thinking about Perry and insisted: “I will never forget you. Never.”

“Spread your wings and fly brother, you are finally free. Lots of love.”

In the spirit of the funny character he played on the show, Joey Tribbiani, LeBlanc ended the tribute with a light-hearted quip: “And I guess you’ll get to keep the $20 you owe me.”

Perry, who struggled with addiction, once commented: “When I die, I don’t want to Friends be the first thing that is mentioned; I want helping others to be the first thing mentioned. And I’m going to live the rest of my life proving it. Addiction is too powerful for anyone to overcome alone. But together, one day at a time, we can defeat it.”

In memory of the actor, the Matthew Perry Foundation was launched to help those struggling with addiction.
