Matt Besler led Blue Valley West to a state title in his young career. He scored 23 goals and assisted 19 others for his team. Matt also played football at the college level and that’s how he became famous. He later joined the Kansas City Wizards and made his debut in March 2009. On March 26, 2011, Matt scored his first goal against the Chicago Fire. Matt was approached by Southampton and Birmingham City, but he decided to stay in Kansas City. On January 29, 2013, he made his senior debut against Canada in a friendly match.
He was also on the team when the United States beat Germany 4-3 in an international friendly. Matt has been named in the 23-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and will play in all of the group games.
