The Marvel Cinematic Universe has reportedly found its Sue Storm and Johnny Storm with Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn, who are eyed to be joining the cast of Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie. Prior to the beginning of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, director Matt Shakman said Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie would start filming in early 2024 to make its 2025 release date. However, Marvel has since delayed Fantastic Four from February to May 2025, so it’s likely filming will start later as well. Additionally, since the strikes are still ongoing, Marvel can’t continue to assemble their Fantastic Four cast. Despite this, a new report has surfaced.
Now, Jeff Sneider of Above the Line is reporting that Marvel Studios is eyeing Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka Invisible Woman) and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka Human Torch) in the Fantastic Four movie, indicating they’re frontrunners for the roles. As of publication, Marvel, Kirby and Quinn have not commented on the report.
Latest Sue Storm and Johnny Storm Fantastic Four Casting Rumors Explained
Both Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn have been rumored frontrunners for Sue and Johnny Storm for quite some time. Quinn in particular has been a very popular fan cast ever since his role as breakout character Eddie Munson in Stranger Things season 4. Although Sneider originally reported that Jack Quaid was rumored to play Johnny Storm, it was later confirmed that Quinn was the actor whom he meant. Additionally, Vanessa Kirby has been an ongoing name circling the Sue Storm character, having joined several other names in possible contention such as Margot Robbie and Mila Kunis for the major Fantastic Four role as The Invisible Woman.
It’s worth noting that this is the first time Above the Line has reported on casting rumors for Marvel’s Fantastic Four, potentially speaking to the validity of this specific report. With any luck, representatives for both Kirby and Quinn will soon confirm the news, though perhaps it won’t be confirmed until after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. At any rate, this would leave two more Fantastic Four roles to be cast, as it seems Marvel Studios is still on the hunt for the MCU’s new Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Ben Grimm (The Thing).
