Professional life of Marty Lagina
Marty Lagina was born in Kingsford, Michigan and attended Michigan Technology University to study engineering. His first job was as a petroleum engineer at Amoco Production Company. While attending law school in 1979, Marty also performed consulting engineering work for several Michigan corporations. In 1982, Marty founded Terra Energy Ltd., an oil and gas exploration and production company.
His company, Terra Energy, pioneered natural gas production from the Antrim shale in the Midwest in the 1990s. Terra has successfully developed approximately $3 billion in oil and natural gas resources. He then sold Terra Energy to CMS Energy for $58 million. Then in 1999, he founded Row 7, a winery with a 3-hectare vineyard. Red 7 was eventually transformed into Vinu Mari Vineyards, a much larger company. In 2004, he founded Heritage Sustainable Energy to focus on wind energy. It is the largest manufacturer of wind turbines in Michigan and one of the largest in the Midwest.
At that moment, he established himself as a successful businessman. Marty, on the other hand, chose to work with his brother Rick when he presented him with the concept for the program now known as “The Curse of Oak Island”. They were also helped by Prometheus Entertainment. The program was designed by the Lagina brothers and quickly became very interesting and popular. After the popularity of the treasure hunt series, Marty and his brother came out of the shadows and gained national prominence.
