Margot Robbie breaks silence on Oscar snub and ‘Barbie’ fans’ reaction

Margot Robbie speaks out after her Oscar snub. The actor led the huge success. Barbie, but she did not feel the affection of the Academy. Robbie’s co-stars America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling earned nominations.

“There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re so blessed,” Margot Robbie said at a SAG screening (via Deadline). Robbie talked about her prospect of not getting a Lead Actress nomination. Director Greta Gerwig also did not win the Best Director category for this film.

“Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as director, because what she did is something unique in her career, something unique in her life, what she accomplished, it really is,” Robbie said. “But it’s been an incredible year for all the movies.”

Despite the lack of an Oscar nomination, Robbie feels fulfilled by the film. However, the actor is nominated for the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards. Barbie also turned out to be a defining moment in popular culture in 2023.

Robbie was humbled by the fans’ response.

“We set out to do something that would change the culture, affect the culture, just make some kind of impact,” Robbie said. “And he has already done it, and something, much more than we ever dreamed of. And that is truly the greatest reward that could come from all of this.”

She continued: “I’ve never been a part of anything like this. Not that way. I’ve done comic book stuff and that gets a big reaction, but this felt very different. It still feels very different. And I can’t think of a time when a movie has had this effect on culture. And it’s amazing to be in the eye of the storm.”

Robbie is getting recognition from his co-star Gosling. The actor made a statement supporting both Robbie and Gerwig.

He said: “But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this historic and globally celebrated film.”

He went on to express his disappointment: “No recognition would be possible for anyone in the film without his talent, courage and genius. “To say I am disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”
