Manikandan Thonnakkal is a native of Thonnakkal, Kerala. He went to Government HSS Thonnakkal (High School), after which he studied at Government College Attingal. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Malayalam language and literature from University College, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) in 1993.
