Makeup artist ‘Maestro’ responds to backlash over Bradley Cooper’s prosthetic nose

The makeup artist behind Bradley Cooper’s nose prosthesis in Teacher is speaking after all the reaction.

Last month, Netflix premiered the first trailer for the upcoming biopic of legendary composer, director and pianist Leonard Bernstein, directed by and starring the 48-year-old actor.

After the trailer was released, many expressed complaints about the large prosthetic nose that Bradley was wearing, complaining that it represented a stereotypical representation of a Jewish person.

While promoting the film at the Venice Film Festival 2023the film’s makeup artist Kazu Hiro addressed the reaction.

“I wanted to portray Lenny as real as possible,” Kazu told reporters, according to Deadline. “He is photogenic and a great person. We wanted to respect and love that look. We did several different tests. that was ours [only] intention.”

Kazu has won the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for the biographical films The darker hour and Bomb.

Leonard’s children also addressed the backlash.
