MGK is no newbie when it comes to tattoos. During a 2013 interview with Untitled magazine, The rapper claimed that he started getting tattoos when he was just 14 years old.
“Last year I got my first tattoo in Humbled County,” he said at the time. “When someone gave us a free bag of marijuana and I woke up the next morning and thought, ‘Holy (expletive), I got a tattoo yesterday. What an idiot.'”
Machine Gun Kelly later said the tattoo was “the most punk thing” he could ever do on himself. “Now I look at the tattoos on my body and I regret it because they became really accepted in popular culture.”
Machine Gun Kelly once talked about the tattoos he has of his favorite band/musician
In addition to talking about his initial interest in tattoos, Machine Gun Kelly spoke to the publication about the tattoos he has of his favorite bands and musicians.
“I have Red Hot Chili Peppers tattoos on my body, I love them,” MGK said. “I have a Tommy Lee ‘Mayhem’ tattoo on my wrist, so obviously I’m a big Crüe fan.”
Machine Gun Kelly stated that he got the Red Hot Chili Peppers tattoo because he was going through his drug problem. “I was reading Scar by Anthony Kiedis.”
“I didn’t end up going to rehab because everyone around me didn’t encourage rehab. They were encouraging like, ‘Get over it on your own.’ “Anthony Kiedis’ story helped me a lot and helped me leave all this.”
MGK also got his favorite “Lace up” tattooed twice on his body. “It’s the name of my mixtape and it’s the name of my debut album. It basically means… it’s also a greeting when we do concerts. People always throw their L’s up, but that also means you can basically conquer whatever you want. You are ready to do anything.”
