The 43-year-old actor marked his return to the network, starring alongside Ashley Williams, Marcus Rosner and Peter Porte.
Here’s a summary of the movie: Ellie (Williams) is a fun-loving, city-dwelling classically trained pianist who abandoned her passion long ago. She now works in a hotel and she always seems to make mistakes when musical inspiration strikes her. Her best friend Leo (Macfarlane) lives in the rustic outskirts of British Columbia. He is a famous author with writer’s block who can’t seem to finish another installment of his popular book series.
Realizing that they both need a change of scenery as the cold autumn days arrive, they decide to swap places, only to find themselves completely lost in a new environment. Ellie becomes involved in helping Leo’s neighbor Sam (Rosner) organize a musical performance for a local fundraiser and she comes to terms with why she gave up music years ago. Leo strikes up a friendship with Ellie’s good friend Matt (Porte) and opens himself up to writing something different that really inspires him.
Their new friendships become something much more meaningful, and as Ellie and Leo participate in the joys of the fall season, they also discover that their hearts belong in a very different place than they ever thought possible.
