Marvel Studios has released the Loki season 2 trailer ahead of its Oct. 6 premiere date, bringing Jonathan Majors’ Kang back to the MCU. The trailer, released just days after the end of Secret Invasion, reunites Tom Hiddelston’s Loki with Owen Wilson’s Mobius, introduces Ke Huy Quan’s new character OB, and sees the MCU’s God Of Mischief glitching through the timeline, granting him a look at an ominous future where the world ends.
Loki season 1 ended on the cliffhanger that Sylvie killed He Who Remains, thus destroying the Sacred Timeline and setting loose the multiverse. After, Loki returned to the TVA only to learn everything had changed while he’d been outside of time – his ally Mobius didn’t remember him and Kang was the leader of the organization. Then, the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania post-credits scene revealed Loki and Mobius had tracked down a new Kang variant, Victor Timely, who appears briefly in the trailer. Now, Loki season 2 is picking up those story threads. The Loki season 2 trailer, released by Marvel Studios, reveals what can be expected from the next season of the Disney+ show. Watch the trailer below.
Loki Season 2 Trailer Quietly Introduces New Kang Variant (& Another Marvel Villain)
The Loki season 2 trailer, somewhat understandably doesn’t center Jonathan Majors’ Kang, with only a brief look at new Kang variant Victor Timely in a historical setting that Loki and Mobius travel back to as they seek to repair the timeline. After Jonathan Majors’ behind-the-scenes controversies, it’s not too much of a surprise, with the trailer focusing more on the idea of time-slipping. Clearly, Timely will still be a major story focus, with Loki season 2 seemingly positioning the variant as a Thomas Edison-like inventor, marveling an audience at a circus with his command of electricity.
Even more interestingly, the Loki season 2 trailer also introduces Brad Wolfe, better known in Marvel Comics as serial killing villain Zaniac. His comic origin has Wolfe as an actor who is unwittingly possessed by the real Zaniac, and the trailer reveals Wolfe is a famous actor who stars in a Zaniac movie. Quite how he plays into the main Loki season 2 story is up for debate at this stage, but he appears to be a secondary antagonist.
Loki season 2 premieres Friday, October 6 on Disney+.
