She is perhaps best known for her starring role as Elise Rainier in the Insidious film series and as Magda in There’s Something About Mary. Also, in 1975, she made her film debut with a small role in Hester Street, followed by small roles in various movies and television shows.
Additionally, she is considered a scream queen due to her roles in various horror films, such as Alone in the Dark, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Critters and its sequel Critters 2: The Main Course, Amityville: A New Generation, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, Dead End, 2001 Maniacs and its sequel 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, Ouija and its prequel Ouija: Origin of Evil, Tales of Halloween, Abattoir, The Final Wish, Room for Rent, The Grudge and the Insidious universe.
In addition, she is also known for her comedic roles in numerous Farrelly brothers films, including Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, There’s Something About Mary, Detroit Rock City, Me, Myself & Irene, Stuck on You, and The Three Stooges.
