Leslie Jones shares her opinion on the infamous Oscar awards slap.
During the Oscars 2022Chris Rock got slapped by Will Smith after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith.
In a new interview, Leslie revealed that the very public incident “really affected” Chris.

“That s**t was humiliating,” Leslie said. People. “It affected him a lot. People need to understand that his daughters, her parents, saw that. She had to go to therapy with her daughters.”
Chris shares his two daughters, Lola, 21, and Zahra, 19, with his ex-wife Malaak Compton-Rock.
Leslie, who has been a close friend of Chris since the ’90s, was not at the Oscar awards that night, but admitted that watching the incident on television at home angered her.
“You didn’t know I was going to get in my car and drive there,” Leslie said. “I was so fucking angry on so many levels.”
“Chris Rock made a fucking joke.” —Leslie added. “I know Will too… I was like, you couldn’t handle that s**t afterwards. This is the Oscar awards. “The whole world is watching.”
After the incident, Leslie recalled telling Chris, “I said, ‘Chris, when he got up, why didn’t you run?’ She would have been running around that stage like ‘Will, calm down.’ Jada, call your man!’”
Leslie also criticized how Will acted after the slap.
“I still could have fixed it,” Leslie said of Will, who returned to the stage later in the ceremony to accept the Best Actor award for his role in king richard.
Leslie said that if she were Will, she would have said, “’I shouldn’t have done that. Take Chris out. I can’t accept the Oscar right now because he was so fucking bad.’”
