Lesandro Guzmán-Feliz was a student at the Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Sciences Charter School and aspired to become a detective. Additionally, he was a member of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) Explorers program, which is a group for young people interested in law enforcement careers. However, he was murdered by the Dominican-American gang Trinitarios in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx.
Due to mistaken identity, the gang killed Junior in the Bronx using a machete and a knife. He left his apartment to meet his friend on June 20, 2018, at 10:30 p.m. After leaving his apartment, he became alarmed when he noticed four vehicles and ran for several blocks while being chased by gang members in the vehicles. He then hid in a warehouse at Bathgate Avenue and East 183rd Street in Belmont, the Bronx, near his apartment.

However, the store owner stopped him from hiding behind the counter when he and others witnessed the attack but were unsure of the situation. But the store owner relented and left him behind the counter after seeing how scared he was. However, one of the gang members saw him and then dragged him outside where the other three gang members were waiting. After that, several gang members began stabbing him with large knives and machetes.
Additionally, CCTV also captured the incident inside the store and a resident also captured cell phone video from the upper floors of the building. Additionally, the cell phone video also shows other gang members arriving and leaving the crime scene. After the attack, Junior re-entered the store but was sent out of the store.

He then began running east along 183rd Street toward St Barnabas Hospital, a block after stumbling out of the warehouse. However, he collapsed on a step of a security booth a few meters from the hospital entrance. Furthermore, he died minutes after the attack on the warehouse. A Trinitario gang leader claimed on Snapchat that the death was a case of mistaken identity, according to his sister’s boyfriend. Additionally, the gang later apologized for the murder to his family on social media and expelled the killers from the gang. The public was outraged after the gruesome video of the murder began to spread on the Internet. In connection with Junior’s murder, police arrested fourteen members of the Trinitario gang.
After almost a year of his murder, the court convicted five suspects accused of his murder outside the Bronx warehouse. The jury convicted Jonaiki Martínez Estrella, Manuel Rivera, Elvin García, José Muñiz and Antonio Rodríguez Hernández of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, gang assault and conspiracy in a Bronx court on June 14, 2019.
