Leena Chandavarkar was born on 29 August 1950 (age 73 years; as in 2023) in Dharwad, Karnataka. Her zodiac sign is Virgo. He did his schooling from Basel Mission High School, Karnataka. She didn’t go to college. After completing her schooling, she participated in the Filmfare Fresh Face Contest in 1965 and was the runner-up. After this he got many advertising assignments. He worked in the advertising industry until 1968. He did his first film in 1968.

Leena was born in a Brahmin family. His father Srinath Chandavarkar was an officer in the Indian Army. There is not much information about his mother. He has a brother, Anil Chandavarkar. He was married twice. Her first marriage was to Siddharth Bandodkar. Her second marriage was to Kishore Kumar. He had a son from her, Sumeet Kumar.

livelihood
Leena used to get many modeling assignments. She wanted to get into acting but she was not getting good films. She was very conservative and traditional; Due to which he had to leave many films. She finally got a good role in Sunil Dutt’s film Mann Ka Meet in 1968. She was cast as the lead actress opposite Sunil Dutt’s brother Som Dutt. Vinod Khanna was also cast as the villain in the film; This was also Khanna’s first film. During 1969–1979, she did many films with many popular actors. By the late 1980s, he had worked with Dilip Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Sanjeev Kumar, Jeetendra and many others.

In 1970 she did a film with Jeetendra, Humjoli. The song Dhal Gaya Din Ho Gayi Sham from the film became an instant hit and was loved all over India. After this, Leena became famous in every household and after that song she became quite popular.
She had become a very popular actress and every director wanted her to be the lead actress of the film. In 1971, she did the film ‘Mehboob Ki Mehndi’ with Rajesh Khanna. It was considered his best performance and he received praise from all over India for his role in the film and the way he played it.

He did 30 films in his 15 year career. His last film was Sarfarosh. In an interview in 2015, he had said that he is still ready to do films if someone offers a good role.
Controversy
On 16 February 2015, during the 2015 Hum Log Awards show, which Lena was attending, there was an incident with Ram Jethmalani; Who were also present in this program. When she was going on stage, Jethmalani came forward to hold her hand and welcome her, but he accidentally kissed her. After the pictures of the kiss went viral, many people on social media platforms felt sorry for Leena and trolled Jethmalani. Lena later clarified that they both admire each other and there is nothing wrong in kissing.
