Career
Film
She got her first break at a very young age; Malayalam director Vinayan selected Lakshmi for the film Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya (2011) after watching the telecast of her dancing on television. She appeared as Priya in this film. While recalling the memories of her first film, in an interview, Lakshmi said,
I felt I was too young to decide on anything. My mom asked me to give it a shot. I was only in my eighth grade, and I wasn’t really thinking about what I was doing. They shot close to my home and so I wasn’t nervous at all. I played the hero’s sister.”
In 2012, she was the main lead Shanthi in the Malayalam film Ideal Couple. She made her debut as Archana in the Tamil film industry with the film Sundarapandian in 2012.
In the same year, she appeared as Alli in the Tamil film Kumki.
In 2013, she played the role of Bharathi in the Tamil film Kutti Puli. In the same year, she appeared as Padma in the film Naa Bangaaru Talli which was shot in both Telugu and Malayalam language. The name of the Malayalam adaptation was Ente. She is well known for various films including the Malayalam film Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014), the Tamil film Jigarthanda (2014), the Tamil film Vedalam (2015), and Rekka (2016). In 2021, she appeared as Pechi in the Tamil film Pulikkuthi Pandi. In 2022, she appeared as Pooja in a psychological thriller Tamil film, AGP Schizophrenia.
Singer
She worked as a playback singer in various Tamil films. In 2014, she sang the song “Kukkuru Kukkuru” for the film Oru Oorla Rendu Raja.
She gave her voice to the song “Desi Girl Desi Girl” for the film Saagasam (2015). In the same year, she sang the song “Oh Coffee Penne” for the film Kuzhambi.
Controversy
Reportedly, there was a rumour that Lakshmi Menon and actor Vishal Krishna Reddy have married each other. They both appeared in the Tamil film Pandiya Naadu in 2013. Vishal denied all the rumours surfacing on the internet and posted a tweet on his Twitter account on 11 August 2023.
