In 2013, Labh Singh Ugoke became a volunteer member of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, India. Soon after joining the Aam Aadmi Party, he was appointed as a monitoring committee member named Disha in Barnala district. Later he was appointed the district president of the SC wing in the same district. Labh Singh Ugoke contested the March 2022 assembly elections from Bhadaur constituency and won the election by defeating his rival and Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who had contested from the same constituency on an Indian National Congress ticket. In the same election, Channi had also lost to another AAP candidate contesting from Chamkaur Sahib constituency.

- Labh Singh Ugoke, apart from being a politician, also runs a mobile repairing shop in his village. Immediately after finishing school, he did a diploma in mobile repairing. However, Labh Singh Ugoke closed his mobile repair shop in 2019.
- After winning the assembly elections in Punjab in March 2022, Labh Singh Ugoke said in a press conference that his father worked as a driver, and his mother was a cleaning worker in a government college in Punjab.
- According to an affidavit filed with the Election Commission of India, Labh Singh Ugoke owns only one Hero Honda motorcycle which he bought in 2014.
- Labh Singh Ugoke had claimed before the assembly elections in Punjab in March 2022 that he would definitely defeat Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and the election results showed that Charanjit Singh Channi was defeated by Labh Singh by a huge margin of 37,558 votes.
- Labh Singh Ugoke’s family background is very simple. In one of his interviews given to a media house, he described himself as a common man and said that Charanjit Singh Channi was wearing the mask of a common man who did not even know the names of the villages falling under his constituency. There are 74 villages in my constituency and I know the problems of every village. For me, Bhadaur is not a ‘halka’ (constituency) but my family. Channi Saheb does not even know the names of 10 villages of Bhadaur seat.
Labh Singh Ugoke alleged that Charanjit Singh Channi ignored the problems of the people of Bhadaur constituency, and Labh Singh in the same conversation said that Channi was living a king-sized life. He said that Channi is just attracting national media attention and is not working at the grassroots level. They said,
Channi Saheb is not a ‘common man’. Despite being from a Dalit family, he is living the life of a king. The only difference I noticed after Channi jumped into the fray from this seat is that the national media attention is on me to contest the CM.
