Kinan Chenai is an Indian trap shooter. He is the son of renowned national shooting champion Darius Chenai. He won the Asia Olympic Shooting Qualifier held in Delhi in 2016.

Keenan Chenai was born on Tuesday, 29 January 1991 (age 32 years; as in 2023) in Hyderabad, India. He completed his schooling from Hebron School, Ooty, Tamil Nadu. As a child, Kaynan was not interested in studies and participated more in sports. During school, he played team sports such as field hockey and football. He was also the school’s freestyle swimming champion for three years. The guns in his father’s room attracted Kaynan’s attention at a very early age. Keenan Chenai was fascinated by the Olympic rings as a young child and promised himself that one day he would compete in the Olympics. He graduated in Business Management and Sports Science from Brunel University, London.

Keenan started shooting at the age of 10 and was taught by his father in 2000. Talking about the beginning of his career in shooting, he said in an interview,
Initially I shot for fun. Then, I got into the game and it became a passion when I turned 16.”
In 2003, Keenan finished fourth in the GV Mavalankar Shooting Championships in Chennai. At the GV Mavalankar Shooting Championship, Keenan competed in the 21-year-old category. Later, Chenai trained under four-time Olympic champion Mansher Singh. Keenan has played in several international tournaments, including the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games, the 2022 Asian Games, and the 2016 Summer Olympics. On 28 January 2016, he secured one of four quotas for India in the men’s trap event on the second day of the Asia Olympic Shooting Qualifiers.
In 2016, Kinan led a group of 75 shooters at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. He finished 19th in the men’s trap event in his first Olympic event in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Keenan Chenai is sponsored by Italian firearms manufacturing company Beretta and Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ), a non-profit company to promote the sports.
