The 2024 Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles on February 4. The star-studded event was not without controversy. Star rapper Killer Mike was seen being led away from the venue in handcuffs. This was after Mike collected three awards to start the evening. TMZ reports that a physical altercation before the event is what led to his arrest.
“Killer Mike’s Grammy night came to an early end… because he was led away from the event in handcuffs, after an alleged physical altercation,” TMZ wrote.
“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ… Killer Mike was taken into custody after allegedly getting into some type of physical altercation with a security guard at the event. We are told he is not under arrest and officers are still trying to clarify what exactly happened.”

The 2024 Grammys have been a night of ups and downs for Killer Mike. He took home the first prize in 2024 and completed all the awards he was nominated for. And soon after he was handcuffed.
After going viral, legendary rapper Ice T reacted to Killer Mike’s arrest.
“Homie just won 3 Grammy Awards. The LAPD is cold-blooded,” she said. “They could have at least waited until he got out or was at his hotel. It is said to be a misdemeanor. This is that EXTRA nonsense… smh.”

Killer Mike involved in Nicki Minaj controversy
This is the second controversy Killer Mike has been involved in tonight. The first one happened before the show even started. Before it was announced that the rapper had won one of his three awards, the official Grammys Twitter account made a big mistake.
The song “Barbie World” by rapper Nicki Minaj was announced as the winner for Best Rap Song of the Year through the Grammys Twitter account. But she didn’t win. The real winner was Killer Mike for “Scientists and Engineers.”
Minaj is one of the most decorated artists of this generation. She has multiple platinum albums and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry. Drake, Kanye West, Beyonce and Jay-Z are just a few of the best she’s worked with. But the only thing she has missed is winning a Grammy Award.
Since he doesn’t have a Grammy yet, the mistake must have stung a little more.
