Kiernan Shipka recalls her role in mad Men.
The 23-year-old actress was just seven years old when she was cast as Sally Draper, the daughter of Jon Hamm’s character Don Draper, on the show, which ran from 2007 to 2015.
I was 15 years old when the show ended.
In a new interview, Kiernan admitted she didn’t realize how “intense” her role was in mad Men it was while she was filming.

“I’m surprised because at the time I wasn’t thinking of it as a homework,” Kiernan shared with page six.
Kiernan went on to say that she was too young to realize what was going on at the time.
“I didn’t know anything else,” Kiernan explained. “That is what I did. But looking back, I’m like, ‘Yeah, well, that was really intense.’
Kiernan now also appreciates how lucky she was to play Sally.
“I was very lucky as a child. Just to trust the performance and not really doubt it,” Kiernan shared. “And I think, in turn, I didn’t really doubt myself and found my abilities in a way that I might not have if they were suppressed or if people tried to shape or change them in some way.”
“They let me be on that set,” Kiernan added, “and I’m so thankful for that.”
