Kevin Costner’s ex Christine Baumgartner attempted to file a case to increase the actor’s child support payments while in court on Thursday (August 31).
Earlier this week it was reported that she was asking Kevin for $175,057 a month to care for her three children. That would have been an increase of $46,000 from what the courts previously designated.
His team presented a new figure and explained why they thought it was justified.

People noted that Christine’s attorney, John Rydell, submitted a lower amount of child support than they would accept: $161,592. They claimed that Kevin earned an average of $19,248,467 over the past two years.
Assuming she earned more than $1.6 million a month and the parents maintained 50/50 custody, Christine should, in theory, be entitled to $175,057. It’s unclear why they accepted the reduced request.
Either way, they made it clear that more funds would be needed.
John told the court the children were so used to his lavish lifestyle that it is “in their DNA at the moment”. In fact, Christine argued that the funds would not be enough to match the lifestyle the children were accustomed to.
“$175,057 per month will not be enough to replicate Kevin’s lifestyle, but it will be enough to allow him to provide a lifestyle for the children that is relatively comparable,” the court documents read.
The couple filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage in May 2023. Christine recently revealed whether Kevin’s hit show yellow stone attributed to the split.
They met for a statement earlier this month and we have the details of that.
