Kevin Bacon had to make a strange deal to buy his farm.
The 65-year-old actor recently revealed why he had to destroy a portion of his northwest Connecticut farm in 1983 in order to purchase the property.

During an appearance at Rob Lowe’s Literally On the podcast, Kevin explained that the farm’s former owner was hesitant to include an abandoned house that was located on the premises, and the actor was only able to purchase the land after writing in the contract that he would destroy the house.
“It was an abandoned house that [the owner] he had grown up,” Kevin said. “We were talking about it for a while and then finally I said, ‘Listen, you can’t sell me a piece of land but not sell me the house on it.’ That’s just strange. What if you sell it and there’s someone who just lives, basically, in the backyard?’”
The owner, who feared that Kevin would be “possessed” and “cause serious damage,” reached an agreement with Kevin that required him to destroy [the house] within a month” of buying the property.
Rob asked Kevin if he had “spent a night” at the abandoned house, but Kevin Free The star denied any interest in disturbing the supernatural.
“Not only did I not do that, but I went up there and there were some beautiful old pine boards and a railing and I said: [my wife] kira [Sedgwick], ‘We have to eliminate them.’ And she says, ‘No, you’re not.’ You’re not putting those damn things in our house,’” she said.
