Kendra Wilkinson took drugs at a sublime concert hours after Hugh Hefner’s death

When Hugh Hefner died on September 27, 2017, his ex-girlfriend Kendra Wilkinson didn’t stop to cry. Hours after learning the news, she was drugged at a Sublime concert.

“I smoked a lot of marijuana,” the 38-year-old admitted during an interview with PEOPLE. “Look, at the end of the day, I don’t owe Hef anything. “I’m not going to sit here and protect him.”

“Hugh Hefner decided to date millions of girls, right?” She continued. “That is not my responsibility. And whatever happened with him, with his relationships, that was his thing. “It is not my responsibility to protect a man for his life choices.”

Wilkinson dated the Playboy founder when she was just 18 and he was 77. She lived with him and his many other girlfriends in the Playboy mansion for about five years. She told the publication that her time there created layers of trauma that she is still overcoming.

With the help of a therapist, the former reality star has been processing her “deep regret” from that period of her life, saying she entered the relationship because she hated herself.

Kendra Wilkinson married former NFL star Hank Baskett in 2009. The couple had two children but divorced ten years later. She finally hit rock bottom last September when she was hospitalized with anxiety and depression.

Kendra Wilkinson feels like she ‘just pressed a revival’

Today, Wilkinson understands that Playboy “ruined his entire life.”

“It’s not easy to remember my 20s,” he continued. “I’ve had to face my demons.”

After Hugh Hefner’s death, dozens of women leveled accusations against him, leading people to turn to Kendra Wilkinson for answers. Going over her history made her mental well-being unstable.

“Do you know how many people were pressuring me to defend Hef with all his accusations and everything? It’s not my responsibility to defend someone like that,” she said. “That’s what started to trigger me because people were like, ‘Well, why don’t you defend him?’ And he had a marriage to my ex-husband and now two kids to focus on, not Hugh Hefner.”

Kendra Wilkinson continues to process her decades-long grief, but is moving forward with a career in real estate and focusing on her children.

“I have a lot of good ahead of me,” he said. “I have two of the most incredible children who are good, solid human beings, and I feel like I just pushed for rebirth. Whatever that hurricane was that I was a part of, it’s far away now.”
