Kate Middleton accused of using Vogue photo shoot in botched family photo

As the Royal Family continues to receive backlash over the allegedly heavily edited photo Kate Middleton posted, the Princess of Wales is accused of using a previous Vogue photo shoot in the botched family photo.

Ruby Naldrett, who works for the social media department of The Daily Mirror in the United Kingdom, took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a photo from Middleton’s 2016 photo shoot alongside the latest family photo. “My analysis of the Kate Middleton photo saga is that they took her face from the Vogue cover she did years ago and edited it,” she wrote.

Post X has already attracted over 8.9 million views and 11,000 shares. Many actually believe the edit is from the 2016 session.

“This is deeper!” wrote one user X. “The Vogue cover was her defining moment, where she became the perfect future queen. Maybe they are trying to recover that image? Symbolism over substance, hiding the fact that, beneath the veneer, the fairy tale is no longer so perfect.”

Another user went further to say that the theory makes sense. “This is why her hair is blurry and translucent because they highlight the place where the hat flattened it,” they wrote.

However, many X users still wonder if the theory is really true. “The lighting is completely different,” noted a fellow X user. “I find it hard to believe that the same person who botched the Photoshop job was able to change the lighting on his face like that.”

Kate Middleton apologizes for edited photo

Naldrett’s analysis of the latest family photo comes just hours after Kate Middleton apologized for editing the snapshot.

“Like many amateur photographers, I experiment with editing from time to time,” Middleton wrote on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Instagram Stories. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion caused by the family photograph we shared yesterday. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”

The image shows Kate Middleton with her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Prince William was credited with taking the photograph.

Less than 24 hours after the photo was posted, photo agencies issued a “takedown notice” and the photo was removed for editorial reasons.

Many people have been concerned about Middleton’s health since her abdominal surgery in January 2024. She was last seen publicly with her family on Christmas Day. The princess has stayed out of the public eye since her surgery. Kensington Palace said surgery was planned. Middleton will resume her royal duties after Easter.
