He made a special solo video on YouTube named ‘#PokeMe’. His next special films were ‘Second Decoction’ and ‘Blood Chutney’. He has performed stand-up comedy in more than 300 shows in India and other countries.

In 2017, Karthik had made a video of his ex-wife and posted it on Facebook. In the video, he asked his fans to guess what script he would write next. He made it clear that the script would be about his wife. Earlier, his wife was embroiled in a controversy in which some personal pictures of Tamil actor Dhanush, Rana Daggubati were leaked from Suchitra’s Twitter account. He posted a video, in which he said that his wife was innocent. He also wrote a post on Facebook and said,
Good morning. The last few days have been troubling for us as a family as Suchi’s Twitter account was hacked. Today we have recovered his account. All the tweets published in the last few days were not by Suchi and are completely false.
In 2018, Karthik released his special named ‘Blood Chutney’ which aired on Amazon Prime Video, which was criticized by many media houses. According to her, the video contained body shaming, hypocrisy and sexism. On this Kumar said that his jokes are being taken very seriously.

- Karthik wrote a book in 2018 titled ‘Don’t Startup: What Nobody Tells You About Starting Your Business.’ In an interview he talked about the reasoning behind the title of his book and said,
Usually when you tell an entrepreneurial personality not to do something, they definitely do. It was incredibly difficult to make money. Not only this, we also heard a lot of naysayers. No one will tell you that a start-up is the best thing. You’ll hear a lot of ‘this won’t make enough money’ and ‘you’re not the right person to try this’.”
