Karti Chidambaram is an Indian politician and businessman. He is the son of prominent Indian politician P. Chidambaram.

Karti Chidambaram was born on Tuesday, 16 November 1971 (age 52 years; as of 2023) in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu. He received his primary education from Don Bosco School of Excellence, Egmore, Chennai. He studied Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the University of Texas at Austin, USA in 1993. After this he took admission in Cambridge University in 1995 to study Bachelor of Laws. 
Since childhood, he likes to play lawn tennis. He regularly plays and participates in many tennis competitions and has won many of them. Karthi is the Vice President of “Tamil Nadu Tennis Association”. He has also been the Vice President of “All India Tennis Association”.

Karthi Chidambaram belongs to the Nagarathar caste (also known as Chettiar). His father P. Chidambaram is a prominent Indian politician. His mother Nalini Chidambaram is a lawyer. He is married to Srinidhi Rangarajan, a Bharatanatyam dancer and physician at Apollo Hospital. They have a daughter, Aditi Nalini Chidambaram.

business career
Karthi returned to India in 1996 after completing his studies. His father P.Chidambaram wanted him to join his law firm, but Karthi joined a company called “Manali Petrochemicals Limited”. In an executive position. He was always interested in business and soon he started several companies. He owns many companies in India and abroad.
political career
When Karthi returned from the UK, his father had left the Indian National Congress, and started his own party, the Tamil Nadu Congress (TMC). He joined the party as a member and worked as his father’s election manager. He contested the 2014 general election from Sivagangai constituency in Tamil Nadu, but lost. In 2019, he again contested the Lok Sabha elections from Sivagangai constituency of Tamil Nadu and won. He was elected MP in the 17th Lok Sabha.

- In November 2014, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee chief EVKS Elangovan attacked her for sharing internal party issues with the media.
- In January 2015, Karthi praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his political skills. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee strongly criticized him for this statement.
- In April 2015, a company partly owned by Karti, “Vasan Healthcare Group”, was being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Allegedly, the company was violating India’s foreign direct investment policy and providing illegal help to a Mauritius-based investment firm called Sequoia Capital India.
- In August 2015, ED had summoned him in the Aircel-Maxis case.

- On 11 October 2018, ED took possession of several properties of Karti in India, UK and Spain. The ED said the assets were worth Rs 54 crore and were linked to the “INX Media” money laundering case.
