Discrepancy in land allotment
In August 2022, Kalpana made headlines when BJP leader and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das claimed that her husband Hemant Soren had misused his position to allot a plot for his wife’s business. The commerce department was then headed by Hemant Soren, during which Kalpana got 11 acres of land from the plot pool that was initially set aside for tribal people, under which tribal people could start their own industrial projects. Kalpana Soren is the owner of Sohrai Pvt Ltd, which was given a plot for a meat processing facility in Ranchi’s Barhey Industrial Park in 2022.
