He died of a heart attack on Thursday night, 16 July 2020. His death was confirmed by senior Kashmiri journalist Yusuf Jameel by tweeting,
Junaid Shah, a promising Kashmiri youth who looked like Ranbir Kapoor and son of my old neighbor Nisar Ahmed Shah, died of a heart attack on Thursday night.
